What should I know about sedation or general anesthesia?
Are there any alternatives to sedation or general anesthesia?
For a variety of reasons, there are some parents who are against sedation or anesthesia, or there are some children who are not able to tolerate anesthesia. There are also situations where anesthesia is the only reasonable option. I try to work with each individual family to come up with a treatment option that meets your child’s dental needs and fits with your values and priorities.
Where do you perform general anesthesia?
I work out of three locations for general anesthesia cases. Advocate Christ Children’s Hospital is staffed by board certified anesthesiologists with advanced training in pediatrics. The same anesthesia group covers Tinley Woods Surgery Center, where I am also on staff. Finally, I work with both Dr. Messieha and Dr. Higgins for in-office anesthesia. There are several factors that can affect which location might be best for your child. I am happy to discuss those factors in person.
