Kids, Computers, Television, and Teeth...

Last week, the American Academy of Pediatrics released new policy guidelines about media usage in children. With the amount of time spent by children Children's Healthwatching TV, using Facebook, surfing the web, and texting, I think that establishing rules about media use for our kids is a great way to help keep them safe from some of the negative influences of the media.

While you're out trick-or-treating with your little ghosts, goblins, and skeletons, here's a few tips to help keep you and your family safe:

  • Try to get out while it is still light out. But, be prepared just in case it gets dark before you get back home. Wear light-colored clothing so that you are visible to motorists. If your child has a dark-colored costume, use some reflective tape to make him more visible.
